Default How will this affect ebid

Was switching telly channels when a programme caught my eye, (think it was on BBC 2) was all about ebay

    Did anyone see it

The programme focused on the fake goods being sold on ebay.

Companies have taken ebay to court on serveral occasions after having seen fakes of their products being sold on ebay, apparently it has cost ebay millions in fine's

Trouble was, they asked viewers to contact them if they found any auctions site that were selling fake's, and I bet someone will trawl though some sites looking and reporting,

So ebid, make sure you have your own team trawling though your own site checking out for fakes, dont leave it to us to report it as we may well miss some

This is not directed at any individual that sells on here, but rather to ebid themselfs, would they be able to afford a fine if they do not keep there guard up against counterfeit items, after all they cant afford to do a tv campayne

there are definetly a few here and many are quite blatant e.g inspried by chanel, or another designer. You can't do that and many do on here don't know if they think by putting that is a way around it but it is not. If it has a designer like logo then it is a fake regardless how you advertise it and ebid could be fined for it by the designers as ebay has.

How can someone spot a fake from a photo on a auction site.
They should concentrate more on the people importing fakes and that would stamp it out.

Yeh but for the auction site they have to monitor what is getting sold as they will be held responsible by the designers. There is many different ways to tell fakes for example chanel sunglasses which are genuine would have an id on the lens as well as the arms

That's exactly what they were saying on telly, thing is, as ebay clamp down on fakes

The sellers are going to look else where to sell

Fakes are a problem indeed but the bigger issue is that the famous expensive brand names don't allow the sales of their goods on auction sites at all unless the seller can prove they have a license from the company which would be extremely rare if not, nonexistent.

How on earth is anyone supposed to notice that from a teeny tiny pic on an auction?
