Any NTL PC Guard users?

Are there any NTL or Virgin users who know anything about PC Guard security?
I have the free version. Then last week I got an update, and now I have a spyware scanner running every couple of hours. It nearly brings everything to a standstill and it's driving me mad.
I'm not supposed to have the spyware scanner on the free version so I can't find any way to turn it off.
Does anyone know how to stop it?

Have never use pc guard myself, but have heard that its next to useless.
AVG free version seems to be very popular.

I used to have AVG, but when it stopped updating I had to replace it.
Had no cash at the time, so went for the free PC Guard.
I have a code for Avira 12 month subs that I won in a competition, but I've never heard of it, so not used the code.

I use Avira AntiVir the free edition, had no problems.
It's also much less bloatware than some of the other antivirus you can use.

I'll dump the PC Guard, and get AVG back.

we used the free version that comes with ntl / virgin broadband.
recently had to completely reboot due to similar problems that got steadily worse over a few weeks- pc guard would not run as the computer kept telling us it was not installed yet trying to reinstall using the disk or download from virgin would not work either.
the reboot got rid of everything including the pcguard that turned out to be useless against whatever infected my computer.

avg had a glitch many moons ago that stopped the auto updates,,

avg 8 is newer and great

for all internet free protection,, virus, adware, windows defender ect

AVG 8 gave my pc major problems Quad...

It checked each and every page i clicked on taking 40 seconds or more to clear it before it would allow opening it, not good when i was just surfing...

I am on cable at 20 mgm so expected a lot more more from AVG...it didn't happen so i now have an alternative Anti-Virus Prog that covers me in All respects...

I've just downloaded the avg, but now it won't finish the installation.
I'll have to try something else.
