We're not in Preston, but over the few years we've been selling odds and bobs on internet auction sites we've had quite a few items collected - large where it has been part of the listing and small where the buyer has asked if they can collect their purchase. In all cases, we have never charged anything for p&p.
The only thing we do specify is that if the item is being collected, then payment is to be by cash on collection.
agree with what babs said would not charge postage on a collection item but would rather be paid cash on collection to save on the old poopoo fees. Even if item was not listed as a collection one if buyer asked if it could be then I would allow it, uses their petrol instead of mine {to post office} saves packing, ensures item actually gets to the buyer etc
Funny enough i am collecting an item from a seller today, they live about 4 mile from me, but got a great buy & postage is £8 so I thought I would collect to save my self £6 (it will cost me £2 to get there & back) Paying cash on collection so they don't get any fees
