Hi Merlin!
When I visited England a few years ago with a horseback riding team from the US, people wanted to know if we still had cowboys and Indians in our Western deserts. As the only team member from Chicago, I got a lot of queries about gangsters When the same team went to Australia we didn't get any of those questions, but we did come in for a lot of criticism for walking on the wrong side of the lanes in Sydney.

You Mean the cowboys and Indians are extinct ? ...OMG Rawhide was not reality TV ??........ Ah yes! I remember Now Rowdy Yates wasn't a Cowboy at all he was a politician in disguise ...And of course there was Ronald Regan too

Cowboys aren't extinct, but I read somewhere that they use 4-wheel drive vehicles a lot now.

Indians aren't extinct, in fact many of them are doing very well since they discovered the law allowed them to build gambling casinos on their reservations, even in states that don't allow gambling. The Ojibwa tribes who live where I grew up are managing their income a lot better than the U.S. government does.

As for Eastwood and Reagan, I think most politicians are pretty good actors. What's the difference between pretending to be someone else and telling a lie convincingly?

I'm really enjoying this thread too.

I'm from Missouri which is about the middle of the USA.

It was 31* at 6 AM this morning and started falling, by 10 AM it was 7* and then by noon it was back up to 11*. It is supposed to be -10* in the morning. It is always said if you don't like the weather here just stick around for a few minutes and maybe you will like it! It isn't always this changeable but we do have quite a variety of weather.

Here in the UK its usually colder up north than it is down here in the south but we dont seem to get seasons anymore - winter is cold and damp spring is slightly sunny and damp summer is hot on occasion and wet fall is chilly and damp . . .get my drift guys? the UK isnt big enough to get vast differences in climate

Prior to her trip to Texas , Buffy (a New Yorker),confided to her co-workers she had three goalsfor her trip to the Lone Star State :

1. She wanted to taste some real Texas Barbecue.
2. She wanted to take in a bona fide rodeo. And..
3. She wanted to "sleep" with a real cowboy.

Upon returning, the girls were curious as to how she fared.

'Let me tell you, they have a tree down there called a Mesquite and when they slow cook that brisket over that Mesquite , it's oh so good.The taste is unbelievable!'

'And I went to a real rodeo.Talk about athletes... those guys wrestle full grown bulls!They ride horses at a full gallop, then jump off the horses and grab the bull by the horns and throw them to the ground! It is just incredible!'

They then asked,'Well tell us, did you "sleep" with a real cowboy?'

'Are you kidding?When I saw the outline of the condom they carry in the back pocket of their jeans, I changed my mind!'

OMG this entire thread is so funny! It's about 10F here and supposed to get colder tomorrow and through the weekend. Around here we say...if you don't like the weather wait a minute....and it will get worse! I just heard about a few school districts which have missed so much school already that they have to attend on two Saturdays and may cancel their February week of vacation. I have so much ice and packed snow on my driveway that when you get out to the street it is like driving off a curb. I took my poor dog out tonight and the snow has frozen so hard she started sliding down our front hill while doing her business! Good thing I had her on a leash!
