Huddy I started out using Gimp. It's free and will give you a good idea of the workings of images before you splash out on expensive software. You can get it here http://www.gimp.org/

Hi i just purchased PSE7 on amazon and it is very easy to use and only about £60 i think and i purchased a book called photoshop elements 7 the missing manual and it explains in depth how to use it. Actually now you remind me I had 2 copies of the manual as it did not empty my cart and as it was late at night i paid for both and i guess i missed the returns deadline so it may be listed on here soon

No. Photoshop is an Adobe product.
Paint Shop Pro (PSP) started out as a Shareware product. Then went commercial. Then was bought up by Corel.
Last version of PSP before being bought by Corel was v8.1 I think.
I've used PSP since v1.0 (on a Windows 2 system) and have tried Photoshop. Much prefer PSP - at least as it was at v8.1. Corel may have spoiled it since they got their hands on it.
That's correct Paint Shop Pro was produced by JASC who were bought out by Corel. Adobe have always produced Photoshop which is a mammoth program, Photoshop Elements is the cut down version and is a commonly used tool by photographers.
