Thread: Does 2nd Class postage put you off buying

  1. #1

Default Does 2nd Class postage put you off buying

Where ordinary post is required, I never offer 1st class for items below 1kg.

The reasoning being that with experience, I have found 2nd class stuff gets there just as slowly as 1st class stuff (or quickly depending on how half empty/full your glass is).

The customer also pays less for postage.

So does seeing 2nd class put you off buying?

As a buyer i always look at postage, at one time it would of put me off, but these days knowing what the post is like and realising that there is not much difference between first and second

    Dont think it would now

As a Buyer, NO - I think the seller is saving me money.

As a seller - I never offer anything except 2nd class for UK - if a buyer needs more, they may ask me!

Depends on the item and how quickly I want it...

If the item is readily available and another seller is offering first class postage (if want it quickly) I will buy from them.

If I cant find the same item elsewhere I might contact the seller and ask if they are willing to send by first class.

    Hope this helps

Been a long time since I listed anything, doesnt it give you the chance to list various postage options?

It is good to know that buyers are willing to ask questions.

I would not hesitate in sending an item whatever way the customer wanted it, as long as the method provided adequate postal loss/damage compensation for the value of the item.

I have only ever quoted for 2nd class postage in the UK, unless it is a valuable item (over £36). More than happy to send 1st class if asked and the extra is paid of course.

I only charge 2nd class because it keeps the costs down for the buyers.

No. Second class postage does not bother me. In the current times shaving every penny off the cost of something can only help. The one I hate to see (can you do it here?) is 'Seller's Standard Rate' which usually means they will sell at what seems a reasonable price but make it up on the S&H.

I usually offer both first and second as some people do seem to prefer delivery using first class. It's their money so it's no skin off my nose.

If something sells greatly in excess of the price I expected then I will use an enhanced service at my cost. If the buyer wants an enhanced service they can have it at their cost. I state both in my T&Cs for anyone who bothers to read them.
