Does anyone use a Vivitar V1388 or V5010 ?

A couple of questions (their site doesn't show all details)...

1, How good is the close-up shot?

My current camera is old but it's OK - that bottle (see photo) is about 1.5 inches wide and you can read the label. (It might have been a bit better but I'm not the best photographer.)
My camera has no optical zoom but the manual settings let you grade down to a 6-inch range.


and,

2, What is the minimum pixels for pictures?

I don't want to be stuck at 3mp or 5mp.

The Vivitar V5010 is a 5MP but has a fixed focus lens and only a digital zoom, no optical so I would forget it. As regards how many pixels do you need it depends how large you need to print, if it's just for web images then 2MP is more than enough. I've printed A4 from an old 4MP that I still have. Thanks but:

I need fewer pixels really, as if you can't select lower than 5mp it's a waste of space,
and,
my current jalopy - a BenQ 1300 (pre-Seimens) has no optical zoom but it's good enough for ebid pictures.
