Post No, no reserve notification on the auctions

Am I hallucinating again or was there, at one time, a note on each of the auctions, that didn't have a reserve price, that said that there was no reserve price? If there was, why is it gone now? I would think the the average buyer would be interested to know if there was or was not a reserve bid price. I am now putting a BIN price and a bid price with no reserve. Do the buyers think that they will have to bid up to the BIN price before they win it? I would like to see the note put back on the auctions that don't have a reserve price, or if there never was a note, I would like to have one put on those auctions. maybe we would get more bids on this type of auction if the buyers knew that they could win the item with their first bid! Any thoughts or suggestions people? Thanks

The flashing r was removed about 4-6 weeks ago as most members did not like it.

I think eBid could have gone one better and thats keeping the R but kept it without flashing if you know what I mean

I find myself shopping a lot less because it is such a time waster to click an ad only to find out it has a reserve

    Big turn off for me

I would like to see a scarlet R on reserve auctions
    My clutter

I don't play the reserve game

I remember that from the Flashing R thread. Many said the Red R should mean that there is a reserve on the auction. Red R for reserve not met and Green R for reserve met.

The flashing R's were ugly but effective. However, the lack of any indicators as to the existence / non-existence of reserves is not a big deal in the coin and paper money category. Chances are, if you see an item worth hundreds of dollars with an opening bid of $1.00, it probably has a reserve. Just use common sense and your browsing will continue to be pleasant.

We've added a non-flashing R back. we'll see how this goes, hopefully it won't cause as much stress.

A refresh of http://uk.pic1.ebid.net/icons/smallr.gif might be required for some to see it immediately.

    Thanks,

Just checked and can't see anything yet (cleared everything first) but PLEASE tell me you're going to apply the icon to items that DO have a reserve rather than making people believe that the majority of items have a reserve price by marking those that DON'T.

The icon has always meant "No Reserve or Reserve Price Met", eg. this bid price is a possible winning price. When hovering over it it is explained.

We've never had any discussion about marking those auctions that have not had their reserve price met, feel free to open this discussion and we will watch with interest.

I don't find the green static anything like as offensive as the red flashing icon. I've never really seen the point of any of it, though. I'm not sure what it's supposed to add, so no idea if this supposed gain justifies the visual clutter.
