Default Update all your items to allow offers on them (Make an Offer)

We launched this new addition to eBid yesterday and have been receiving lots of requests from user to update all their items to accept offers.

Here is a little helping hand for anyone having trouble.

Firstly "Make an Offer" (MaO) is available as long as you have a BuyNow price on your listing. So any SELLER+ users and also SELLER users with "Platinum" listings will be able to use it.

Listing a New Item & Editing an Item

Just tick the Make an Offer box on the listing form.

Make sure you add a BuyNow price. You will see the Fixed Price box tick itself automatically. This just turns off all bidding facilities for this item. Bidding and Offering can't run on the same listing.

SELLER users don't forget you will need to select "Platinum" in section four of the listing form to enable all SELLER+ facilities.

    Bulk Editing Listings

Just go to My eBid > My Bulk Edit. Click the "Search Auctions" to choose all your items or use the elements on the search form to pick up the items you wish to change.
On the next page click the "Add All These Items" button. This will add all your items to a "bucket".

Then click "Make changes to the xx auctions in this bucket".

On the change form tick the MaO box and choose "Yes"

Then just submit and everything should be updated within 10 minutes.

I think you will have to do that in bulk edit.

Perhaps Indy was suggesting a button in My eBid, to set all auctions to Make an Offer (and one to turn them all off).

It might be a useful idea.

Is there a tutorial for using the new MaO option? If so how do I find it? Searching eBid Help doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere.

Is there a help page explaining precisely how the Make an Offer (MaO) option works? I can't seem to find it and the search function just keeps leading me back to these forums.

I was aware that the beginning of the thread showed how to put the option into a listing using either the regular listing form or the bulk editor. It was a description of precisely how the option works is what I was looking for. Somehow doing a search of help kept bringing up how to make an offer on land and info about stock option offerings as well as links to threads here on the forums. Must have been how I was wording the search question.

Thanks for the links. I was able to go back and search again and found a result that eventually led to those same pages, but it was pretty far down the list. I suppose it was a case of too broad a search.

If I understand correctly, the option allows buyers to make an offer if the seller uses the option. The seller can then accept, decline or counter-offer within 48 hours. If the seller sends a counter-offer the buyer then has 48 hours to accept or decline. That's relatively simple. But I didn't see where there was a number restriction stated for how many counter-offers could be made. From the wording, it seemed to me that there could only be one counter-offer made by the sell to an offer and the buyer could only accept or decline. Am I correct in that?

I thought I remembered Gazza saying something about setting the number of offer/counter-offer exchanges in a future update to the thing. Is there any word on when that will be and how many rounds of dickering will be permitted? Personally, I would think that quite a few would be needed for a good negotiation, but there might be an issue with time.

Am I correct in assuming that a seller could entertain multiple offers simultaneously on the same listing? And does the Buy Now option still remain active while negotiations are being conducted. That is, if someone makes an offer, someone else can still by the item at the seller's full asking price if the offer hasn't been accepted yet?

Only comment I recall is at: http://www.ebid.net/forums/showthrea...-Make-an-Offer and no details were given.
