The government have planned to stop the Portland Coastguard Helicopter, please sign the petition against this! Thanks.

'The Secretary of State for Transport has announced that the Portland Coastguard Helicopter base will close, despite protests from local people, MPs and Hospital Consultants.

Many people with an in depth knowledge of what this helicopter does at a local level feel that lives will be lost as a result of losing this Search & Rescue facility.

We urge the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State for Transport to reverse this decision before loss of life is encountered.'

It's about time that cut fat cat jobs instead of frontline services.. Government's always attack the frontline services while the useless fat cats keep their jobs. Just like in hospitals, middle management is putting nurses on the dole because hospitals have 50 managers to do the job that 5 managers could easily do! Over paid and pampered desk jockey's at the MoD keep their jobs while 60k+ troops get sent ot the dole queues while they try and recruit part timers to the TA!

Having lived & worked in Weymouth & Portland,I know how important this base is to the local area.
The next nearest being 25¹ or 45² minutes away could literally be a matter of life or death.

Tried to sign but it wouldn't let me as I'm not a UK resident. Hope this petition gets enough siggys, IMHO emergency services are of major importance and shouldn't be cut anywhere anytime.
