The adwords thingy I was talking about is the one where the little ads come up at the side of google searches to direct viewers to your site... or not.
Ah right, it's me getting me wires crossed. lol

I signed up to Google adwords a couple of months ago when they were doing a promotion. Not a significant increase in business, but definitely some improvement. But I've set my budget to just 30 euro per month for now (will increase that for Christmas but don't plan to spend more than 50).

Triumph's suggestion about specialist magazines is also a good one - that works quite well for me.

And I utilise as many free links as possible, to improve my ratings.

I'm glad you did! As I said, I found your post interesting, and it's joggled my elbow to put a review of my adsense stuff on the to do list.

Most of my visitors come from comping sites where my prize draws are promoted and forums where I have a link in my signature.

I have 4 websites with hosting...a free website on 'webs' and four blogs with 'blogger'.

I am adding a new website/blog every few weeks and connect all the sites together through backlinks so some of my visitors turn up via my other sites/blogs.

I paid for adwords last Xmas, got sales, but the cost outweighed the profit.

I just keep tweaking (search engines like fresh content), have started a blog on site and I Twitter. Have had views from this but no sales yet.

Views are increasing each month and sales are trickling in.

Update... busy dumping clixgalore from various places (including the directory) where it's done no good, and updating my adsense usage. I never fully understand clixgalore, or got on with it. Adsense makes... more sense to me. I wonder if I'll actually make anything now I'm doing it properly!?
