Are we being taken for a ride again ?

There's nothing mysterious about any of it. The first thing you might have to deal with is your definition of, in your words, "crackpot". If an idea is presented to you and your immediate reaction is to call it crackpot, you might be well served to ask yourself, "Why do I call this crackpot?". Is it because your reasoning tells you it does not make sense, or is it that you are automatically judging it according to what society has told you is crackpot? How many of your opinions are actually yours and how many are simply repeated to you often enough until, without realising it, you have accepted them as your own without really thinking about them?

There is an expression that goes, "if you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it". We are lied to constantly, day after day, through an endless stream of media sources, TV, radio, phones, internet, advertising and so on. We don't realise most of the time that we are absorbing this disinformation. But it colours our perceptions, our thinking, all the time. Many people are too busy to stop and consider what it is they are being bombarded with and just soak it all up. If you can stop this process and just think for yourself, things begin to show themselves for what they are.

The problem is that there will always be more Sheeple than Freeple.

OK guys, so let's say I want to join the revolution how can I/we practically make a difference? There are a lot of questions in earthangel's posts but I don't see many answers...

But revolutions do happen, new beginnings are made. If religion can gather numbers en mass then maybe thats the way forward. The religion of truth & a desire to seek it.

Christianity started from nothing and look how strong it grew.
Maybe spreading the word and at least trying to open peoples eyes and ears could be a start.

I don't think it's a case of "joining" a revolution, it's more a case of BEING the revolution. If you are saying my posts have raised questions in your mind, I count that as a positive result! That is one of the most important things we, as individuals, can do. We must encourage people to question everything. The more people who do this, the more people will see the lies and the deceptions. When you find the question, trust your intuition to lead you to the answer.

Indeed, spread the word. Not by banging a drum, but by talking. Or posting in forums. A lot of people just need a "nudge" to get them thinking for themselves rather than allowing the media to think for them.

Going back the original post... I had to laugh today. I received a bulletin from the union which informed us that the council bosses didn't even bother to turn up to a meeting at the end of December, the meeting was about this years pay rise. Instead they just sent the union an email saying that there won't be any pay increase this year. lol

So they get 15% (which to some council bosses equals £40,000 more) increase and the rest of us (who earn just £10,000 a year in total) get bugger all.

Also, the union has found out that the councils have been using our pension contributions to give the council loans at an interest rate of just 0.33% . Legal action is being looked into.

My council, Kirklees council, reserve funds have increased every year for the last 10 years, so much for them being skint.

If the council bosses do give themselves a 15% pay increase then I think it won't just be the council workers who are up in arms but the public will be too.

Brace yourself folks!. The BBC and the rest of the media have been very slow to pick up this story, I've been talking about this since November 2009 !

I know that councils are thinking of increasing charges on everything from leisure centres, highways, to social services and burial's, and cutting back on social services. adult education, and just about everything else. They not only are short of money but they will be short of staff too after they have laid off 20% of their staff. EVERYONE is going to feel these cuts and increases, and expect a massive council tax increase in 2011 on top of it all too.

So what should I do?, just shut up and pay up ?, sorry that's not my style.

Those that just sit on the side lines never know the thrill of the game. Many in the States sleep as well while the politicians get fatter and richer. But the tea parties are making a difference, and will continue to do so. If they want to sit in their pews and pew they will loose what little freedom they have left.JMO.

Yes, I've seen one or two signs that more people are seeing past the deceit and manipulation. It's encouraging, but more needs to be done to open the eyes and minds of the many who are still living a lie.
