I do have one complaint about specsavers though,
after 11 months of their 12 month guanantee,
one of the scews kept working loose, I took the glasses back,
and was promptly told by the manageress, "What do you expect, it's fair wear and tear"
I replied, "Your not very good at handling customeres are you".
she took the glasses to the backroom, returned 10 minutes later,
she had overtightened the screw, snapped the head off and filed it flat.

I did complain to their head office, but was eventually told the guarantee had run out.

They cost me nearly £700 I won't be going there again.[/QUOTE]

Hi Ron , I had a problem with a pair of specs with a different firm...we went back and forth and was told guarantee was out of date....I created holy hell and told their head office it was their fault for not fixing the problem in the first place , toId them I was going to national press , I got the repair and a full refund.....still gave them bad press......papa.

I had varifocals............................ for one week only!!

I kept getting disoriented and walking into things etc. I was so afraid of falling over, that I went back to see about buying some bifocals, and Vision Express simply changed them at no cost!

It might be an 'age thing'!

What do you mean by that!!! HE HE!!!

It is infuriating though, the optician didn't even encourage me to leave the shop and try them, I took from that there was clearly something wrong, and of course the fact it wasn't a case of getting used to them , I simply couldn't see through one of the lens!
I was actually looking forward to the challenge and thought I'd succeed after paying for the dearest lens with the widest corridor.

    Cool

I wear varifocal with no problem, except I have a reading pair for at the computer.

The only problem is the price, so I get them made abroad.
I got a new pair of varifocal made while I was on holiday in Malaysia for £75 with top quality Hoya (Japanese) optical glass. The frames are very hard wearing too. Worth checking prices of glasses on hols if you get further than Europe.

My high street optician wants £300 for the same quality, and Asda better at £125.

I have had cheaper pairs made in Hongkong, bought over the internet, around £59, I think, the glass was fine but the frames each time didn't last longer than a year.

Sorry about the photos. I am so vain I take my glasses off for photos
