Can you end auction early if there is a bid?

just wondering if you could close/end auction early if there is a bid. the item that has a bid has been on ebid for over a year, i would like to close the auction early and send the winning bidder an invoice. any help with this would be appreciated.

Not an easy or foolproof way, you're really supposed to set the auction run time to something manageable and let it finish. You *can* mess about blackballing the bidder to remove the bid, add a buy now price, let the bidder back in blah blah, but you risk seriously irritating your potential buyer and them deciding to go elsewhere. Patience is probably a better plan. After all, the bidder placed their bid having read the end date in the first place, so presumably they don't have a problem with it.

Agree with Kimbo, best to ride it out. You can always add a BIN price to future auctions, so buyers who don't want to wait can purchase straight away.

Gonna ride this one out-thanks for the tips. Some sites could let you accept a bid immediatly and end the auction. Gonna add lots more stuff soon to my site lots of stamps & coins. Thanks everyone who replied!!
