    Default Posting nail varnish

Has anyone else had items of nail polish disposed of by Royal Mail, I have had a letter today saying that they had opened a parcel from me containing nail varnish as it was identified as potentially dangerous and in breach of Royal Mail terms, when they confirmed this they destroyed the item. In my defence I did not know about this and I have sent quite a few similar items in the past with no problems. What I would like to know is this, is it a new regulation if so what does everyone else do that sells nail polish. Royal Mail made it quite clear that this must not happen again which confused me as ebid and other sites that I use all have sellers that sell such items,

The new regulations are on the Royal Mail site but I can't add a link as I don't know how to do that on my phone.

I'll check that out as I have had to close one of my beauty businesses because of the new regulations as I can no longer use Royal Mail or any other carrier for a lot of my past stock

A reminder about Prohibited and Restricted Goods
Royal Mail takes the safety and wellbeing of our customers, employees and the general public seriously and we have controls in place to stop items entering our network which, amongst other things, are dangerous or harmful. On 15 July 2013 for the UK and 14 January 2013 for International our updated Dangerous Goods policies came into force and new rules now apply about what you can and cannot send in the post to UK and International destinations.

The changes mean that you'll be able to post certain items that are currently prohibited by transport regulations providing you comply with new quantity, volume, packaging and labelling requirements. These include toiletry and medicinal aerosols, nail varnishes, perfumes and aftershaves. They also include certain alcoholic beverages - such as spirits like gin or whisky - and electronic devices sent with, or containing, lithium batteries.
Before posting please ensure the items you're sending are not prohibited by Royal Mail . If you're posting restricted items you'll need to comply with quantity, volume, packaging and labelling requirements. Where a label needs to be applied, you must take your item to your local Post OfficeŽ.
For full details of all items currently listed as prohibited or restricted items please go to: www.royalmail.com/prohibitedgoods and www.royalmail.com/restrictedgoods.
Leaflets are also available from your local Post OfficeŽ branch.
We hope you find this information useful, for more details about our products and services please visit: www.royalmail.com.

Beware, the US will be launching cruise missiles at your home to punish you for releasing such toxic materials on the public.

These items would not be 'hazardous' if Royal Mail didn't treat your packages as footballs.

    Just checked.

Nail polish cannot be sent ovetseas but if you wish to send it inland then you will need to attach a ID8000 label to your parcel.

Also needed for medicines, aerosols for toiletries or medicinal purposes, and aftershaves / perfumes

Wouldn't it be easier for RM to list what you are allowed to send?

Some couriers allow you to send nail polish etc on a non-compensation basis. This would probably prohibitively expensive given the size of nail polish and cost of sending.
