Default Blueray .waste of money or worth every penny

i have been watching a blueray dvd on a ps3 and to be quite honest
    what a waste of money
yes its better, but not worth the sort of money these new machines are being sold for
plus you will also have to buy blueray dvds to get the benefit
i wont be wasting my money on one
,if you have more money than sense go and check one out

it's the same as the video versus the betmax lol
in the end the video won out because it was more afforadble.
the best thing about the blueray is the amount of data that each disk can hold 25gb as compared to the dvd which is 8.9gb which is where the quaility comes into play becaus the data is so compressed. but my personal opoinoin would be the dvd for ease of use, price etc.

just wait a while and the price will come down.

    Always happens with new technology.

price usually plummets right after you've gone out and bought one!!!! LOL

It depends on your set up ?

Watched Casino Royale on Sunday with my 42 Inch PX60 Panasonic plasma with 5.1 Amp I thought it was great ?

Mind you i'm as blind as a bat so i sit about 6 foot away i thought the quality was A1. Mind you i have read that some movies on Blueray are a little dissapointing.

Also the films / discs are a bit pricy but if you shop around they are abit cheaper than the shops. I want some one to set up an online video rental scheme for Blueray, Eg 4 Films a month for a tenner

    What did you watch
Never take your loo for granted Camping sucks.......

but its not twice as good in fact i would go so far to say its only a fraction better
just another expensive toy thats not needed

    Talking Blu-ray

Well I have not seen a movie on it, but do you have a HDTV, becasue that is what the blu-ray should be played on, but not sure if it makes any difference, the blu-ray is just a disc to put more crap you dont even watch on the disc. Thats my opinion, i never see any extra content on a dvd, so why would I on blu-ray. Gaming is different, becasue newer games coming out can be much larger and better, a little over 5 times the content of the standard dvd-rom. RPG games may take longer to beat, and endless streets for the Need For Speed Series, well we all will see when more and more games come out.

The VHS system won out because the original manufacturer permitted many other manufacturers a license to make VHS players. Sony, the owner of Betamax, refused to allow anyone else to make their product. VHS systems then swamped the market with numerous manufacturers competing with each other, often undercutting each other too. This was pretty much the only reason that VHS became affordable.

Betamax was a far superior system but yes, it did cost more than the inferior VHS.

It also didn't help that video rental stores would only stock VHS tapes, so the public were almost forced into buying a VHS player if they wanted to rent films.

Much of the reason that you haven't felt the need to watch the extra content is that the producers of the DVD are restricted as to what they can put both in the film and on the disc. These larger discs will allow for improved content, some of which might be the ability to view scenes from multiple camera angles, to interact with elements of the story or to hear the sound track in various languages. There can be a lot of benefits to having extra space on a single disc.
